A tribute to
Gloria Steinem
Gloria Steinem, born on March 25, 1934, in Toledo, Ohio, USA, was an American feminist, political activist, and editor who passionately championed women's liberation movement throughout the late 20th and early 21st centuries.
Steinem gained prominence in 1963 with her article titled "I Was a Playboy Bunny," where she shared her personal experience as a waitress clad in a revealing outfit at Hugh Hefner's Playboy Club. As 1968 rolled around, her work took on a more distinct political tone. Her dedication to feminism grew stronger when she participated in a meeting of the radical feminist group known as the Redstockings in 1968. She took pride in her feminist heritage, with her paternal grandmother having previously served as the president of the Ohio Women's Suffrage Association from 1908 to 1911. In 1971, Steinem co-founded the National Women's Political Caucus and founded Ms. Magazine that focused on tackling contemporary issues from a feminist perspective.
Steinem dedicated a significant portion of her time to various political organizations, emerging as an eloquent advocate for the women's liberation movement.
