Sarojini Naidu
Sarojini Naidu (born Sarojini Chattopadhyay; February 13, 1879 – March 2, 1949) was a notable Indian poet and political advocate. She held the position of Governor of Uttar Pradesh and was deeply committed to civil liberties, women's empowerment, and opposing imperialism. Her significant contribution extended to the Indian struggle for independence from British rule. She achieved the distinction of being the first Indian woman to assume the presidency of the Indian National Congress and to be designated as a state governor.
